Installation Guide

For basic installation procedure for installing Green Insulation™ into roofs, walls and floors please refer to the instructions detailed below.

Roofs

Commercial Roof (Building Class 2 and 9)

  1. Start installing Green Insulation™ from gutter.
  2. Roll out Green Insulation™ across the top of battens or purlins.
  3. Allow Green Insulation™ to sag to achieve a nominal air space of 40mm between Green Insulation™ and roof sheeting.
  4. Roll out the next roll of Green Insulation™ overlapping by 50mm.
  5. Where overlapping is less than 50mm, use 75 mm wide reinforced aluminium tape to join. (available from Green Insulation™)
  6. Roof sheeting can be installed by screwing through Green Insulation™ to the battens or purlins.

Residential Roof (Class 1 & 10 buildings, shed and carport)

  1. Start installing Green Insulation™ from gutter.
  2. Roll out Green Insulation™ across the top of battens or purlins.
  3. Allow Green Insulation™ to sag to achieve a nominal air space of 40mm between Green Insulation™ and roof sheeting.
  4.  Roll out the next roll of Green Insulation™ overlapping by 150mm.
  5. Where overlap is less than 150mm, use 75 mm wide reinforced aluminium tape (available from Green Insulation™) to join.
  6. Roof sheeting can be installed by screwing through Green Insulation™ to the battens or purlins
Note:
  1. Where battens and purlins are not used, roll out Green Insulation™ across the top of rafters.
  2. Higher R-values can be achieved by increasing the air space between Green Insulation™ and roof sheeting.

Walls

Metal and Timber Walls

  1. Roll out Green Insulation™ horizontally on the outside of studs or framing.
  2. Install Green Insulation™ from the bottom of stud or framing.
  3. Roll out the next roll of Green Insulation™ allowing 150mm overlap (residential building) or 50mm overlap (commercial building).
  4. Where overlap is less than 50mm or 150mm (see note 3), use 75 mm wide reinforced aluminium joining tape (available from Green Insulation™).
  5. Allow a nominal air space of 25 mm either side of the Green Insulation™ to achieve required R-values. This is easily achievable by pushing Green Insulation™ inwards between the studs.

Double Brick Cavity Wall

  1. Construct internal brick wall with wire ties in place.
  2. Install Green Insulation™ from bottom of the wall.
  3. Roll out  Green Insulation™ horizontally across the wall on top of wire ties
  4. Slit Green Insulation™ with sharp knife or push wire tires through Green Insulation™.
  5. Overlap installed Green Insulation™ by 150mm (residential building) or 50mm (commercial building).
  6. Where overlap is less than 50mm or 150mm (see note 5), use 75 mm wide reinforced aluminium joining tape (available from Green Insulation™).
  7. Allow a nominal air space of 25 mm either side of the Green Insulation™ to achieve required R-values.  This is easily achievable by pushing Green Insulation™ inwards between the brick cavity.
Note:
  1. Higher R-values can be achieved by increasing the air space between Green Insulation™ and inner and outer wall.
  2. To achieve the required R-values, ensure the Green Insulation™ is centered in the cavity between the brickwork.

Floors

Timber Floors

  1. Roll out Green Insulation™ on the top of bearers and attach it to the bearers.
  2. Roll out the next roll of Green Insulation™ overlapping joins by of 150mm (residential building) or 50mm (commercial building).
  3. Where overlap is less than 50mm or 150mm (see note 2), use 75 mm wide reinforced aluminium joining tape (available from Green Insulation™).
  4. With Green Insulation™ in place, install joists as required and continue to lay floor.
Note:
  1. Green Insulation™ can also be installed on the top of joists perpendicular to the direction of joists. Allow nominal sag of 40mm in between joists.
